Tartank Beach
North Haven, Maine

This shot was completely unexpected. I had been trying to get a shot that would look like one of Jay Panetta's famous island photos, when I got this. Close. But not close enough.

In the distance across Penobscot Bay you can see the soft peaks of the Camden Hills. The sky was perfect, the grass so green and the moss and lichen on the old tartank holder (what do they call them? they are like sawhorses!) so clear.

You may recognize this shot: I turned it into my holiday card in 2005.
