Millenium Park
September 22, 2005 | 3:45 p.m.
I had just returned to my hotel after seeing a taping of the Oprah Winfrey Show and had a couple hours before going to a PlanetOut party at the Chicago Public Library during the National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association conference. So I grabbed my camera and wandered over to Millennium Park on Michigan Avenue where I was fascinated by "Cloud Gate," this highly polished sculpture that looks remarkably like a drop of mercury. Everyone else seemed fascinated by the shine, too, and by the reflections of Chicago's most famous boulevard.
